We follow the EYFS – Early Years Foundation Stage a British Curriculum and a play based approach to learning. By following a curriculum we have clearer idea of the areas we can support each child and how we can extend and support our children.
The primary areas of importance are Personal Social and Emotional as well as Communication and Language and Physical development. Our philosophy is once these areas are secure all the other areas tend to come together. The focus always has to be to make sure the child feels safe and secure for deeper learning and development to take place.
The specific areas of learning are; Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding of the World and Expressive Arts.
All areas are taught throughout the day by providing an environment the supports their needs and extends their development. Teachers plan for and observe their children and through these observations are able to plan each child’s next step of learning.
In Ombu we believe children develop at different stages and it is our role as early educationalist to adapt to the children’s needs.
